Ruinas de la iglesia de San Joaquin
Back to all places
The ruins of the Church of San Joaquín, Iglesia de San Joaquín are visible along the road called Camino Real, which once connected the main centers of the region with Güímar and Lomo de Arico. The church of San Joaquín was built in the 17th century, and the locals no longer had to go to Güímar or Arico for mass. The building was the only public gathering place in the area until 1800. However, due to the mistakes made during the construction of the church, there was a risk of the walls collapsing, and so the order was given to close the church. Today, the ashlar vault of the church has been preserved as the most representative element of the building that has stood the test of time.
