Playa de Las Teresitas
Back to all places
Playa de las Teresitas is a man-made beach, with sand imported here from Sahara desert in 1968. It is said that initially people did not dare to step on the sand because they were afraid that scorpions, grasshoppers and red ants came with the sand from the Africa. In 1998 another load of 2800 tons of sand was imported from Africa to improve the beach. A rocky barrier protects the beach and soft white sand from the wavy ocean creates a natural lagoon. It is very popular among locals and it gets quite busy during the weekends and public holidays. It even happens, that the police cuts off access to car park as it gets full. Also, don’t leave the area without traveling to the lookout above Playa De Las Teresitas for an epic view!
