Oficina de Turismo del Palacio de Carta

Palacio de Carta, an 18th century jewel was commissioned in 1721 by Matias Rodriguez Carta y Abarca and completed in 1752 by his son Matias Bernardo, the first Mayor of Santa Cruz. The main yard of the house is a prime example of 18th century architecture in the Canary Islands. The house was a family residence for more than 100 years, then became the headquarters of the Captaincy General of the Canary Islands, then Civil Government of Santa Cruz and then a property of Banco Espanol de Credito. Purchased in 2007 by the Autonomous Comminity of the Canary Islands, the house was devoted to municipal use in 2017 and currently houses the Tourist Information Office.
