Iglesia de La Concepcion

The church Iglesia de La Concepcion has been in this location since 1516, but the original building was destroyed by earthquakes three hundred years ago and was rebuilt at the end of the eighteenth century. Today, it is considered one of the best examples of Baroque architecture in the entire Canary Islands, thanks to its three front facades, a magnificent dome and two 24-meter-high bell towers. The interior is typical of the Baroque with many wooden carvings and beautiful stained glass windows. I recommend paying attention to the altar, where instead of the expected crucified Christ or the Mother of God, there is a lamb or Agnus Dei as one of the symbols of Jesus. This has given a lot of reason for speculation about close ties with the Freemasons, because one of the most famous regalia of the members of this order is the white apron made of lamb skin.
