Iglesia de la Concepción

Founded in 1511, it is the main parish of the island of Tenerife. The church is located in what was once the Villa de Arriba where the artisan guilds lived. The original church had three naves and various chapels. Its most representative element is probably the tower 28 meters high, which dates from the end of the 17th century. Today, you can ascend this tower to observe a large part of the city of San Cristóbal de La Laguna. Said bell tower is in the Tuscan style, and has an architecture very similar to the bell tower of the Turin Cathedral in Italy. Inside this church there are several pieces worth admiring, such as the precious pulpit carved in cedar wood by the French artist Verau, a Sevillian ceramic basin from the 15th century in which the first Christians from Tenerife were baptized, a wooden monstrance where the first Corpus Christi on the island of Tenerife was celebrated, and precious gold and silver pieces together with the best representative sculptures of the Canary Islands and Europe.
