Back to all places
Casa del Marqués de la Quinta Roja from the end of the 16th century, but it was completely affected by the volcanic eruption of 1706, and was later built respecting the original plan. It owes its name to Don Cristóbal de Ponte y Llanera, first Marquis of the Red Fifth, Knight of the Order of Alcántara, Major Constable of Tenerife and Field Master of the Tercio de Daute and direct descendant of Don Cristóbal de Ponte, Genoese banker, graced in advance in the distribution of land; after finishing the conquest of the island.
This monumental building offers solutions typical of Canarian domestic architecture, in which the traditional works of carved teak that cover all its openings and roof the noblest rooms appear. With an exceptional façade, it hides an equally interesting interior with magnificent interior corridors, an artistic stone staircase and a viewpoint, inspired by Mudejar mullioned windows. The house of the Marqueses of La Quinta Roja, current hotel "La Quinta Roja", is located in the same monumental complex of the town and port of Garachico, next to the Old Convent of San Francisco, the Art Space "Casa de Piedra" , the City Hall and the Parish of Santa Ana, and constitutes one of the historical references of an entire urban environment.
