Bunker de San Andrés

The San Andrés Bunker was built during World War II to protect itself in the event of an attack. It is located on top of the mountain that surrounds Playa de las Teresitas, in San Andrés, just 9 km from Santa Cruz de Tenerife. From inside the bunker you can get amazing view to the beach, but you need to bring a flashlight with you in order to get into the bunker. It is totally camouflaged, so it is very difficult to spot it from afar. To get there, the ideal is to drive to the street ’ Pista Militar de San Andrés ’, first passing through ’Calle Cercado San Andrés’. Approximately in the middle of the Military Track, a dirt road comes out to the right , which leads to the bunker. It is best to leave the car at the end of the Military Track, where we find a few houses, and walk to this path, where we will begin to ascend the mountain. The San Andrés Bunker is one of those corners that you would never imagine finding on an island like Tenerife. The atmosphere that is breathed in it is incredible. It will manage to transport you to another era, put you in the shoes of those who feared an attack on this fantastic island. The bunker has a long hallway, 4 bedrooms and three machine gun nests.
