Back to all places
NOTE! As of September 2024 local government decided to cover all artwork with grey paint. The famous attraction is gone. Former text: Bocacangrejo or Crabs Pit is better known as the Town of Hearts has approximately 380 inhabitants. The first settlers inhabited this place to hide from the Franco regime during the Civil War and settle in their caves until calm arrived. Bocacangrejo has always been a town with cave houses inhabited by fishermen, and at that time it did not have access by road, as it was accessed by paths that led to the homes themselves. You can see many coloured hearts painted on the small coastal promenade. These hearts that have completely changed the life of the neighborhood have made this area become one of the obligatory stops for tourists on their visit to the Island. It has been the scene of film shoots or influencer sessions , being visited by characters from the world of cinema. The creator of these works of art is a resident of the town, popularly known as Rafa. He decided to give a change to the people in a completely voluntary and selfless way. The artist explains that this place had just a few caves and coves, but I made the rest of the things we see here today myself. He adds that hearts symbolize life, since we must put aside cruelty and live it, since we do not know what can happen.
